Chapter 1.7 The process of aging.

Those 2 weeks couldn't have gone by slower, as I awaited the day that Carly and Derrick would enter our lives. We had been wanting to adopt for a while and now the dream was going to come true.

We wanted to adopt 2 kids, a boy and a girl and we adopted kids because toddlers were becoming too much on our 40 year old bodies. Carly was first, she is a daredevil, loves the outdoors and has a photographer's eye.

Next was Derrick, he is a Perfectionist, Bookworm, and Friendly. He is a little ball of energy despite his bookworm trait.

Carly was the opposite of Derrick and was usually quiet whenever I tried to talk to her about her life before we adopted her.

Carly would only open up when she was around Brandon, sitting and playing with him for hours because he was quiet like her.

Adam and Derrick got along instantly playing in their tree fort until it was time for bath and bed.

The boys would also stay up and whisper to each other all night long. Sometimes I'd catch them up as late as midnight! No PJ's on or anything!

Not long after Carly and Derrick came into our lives, it was time for Adam and the twins to age up, we threw a big party at the house to celebrate.

Adam went first since he was the oldest, after a quick thought he wished for good grades in high school and blew out his candles.

The sparkles surrounded him and he aged up into one handsome teen, developing the bookworm trait.

Next up was Brandon, I helped him blow out his candles since he couldn't reach them. Brandon was so cute as he gave a little puff trying to blow out the candles.

He grew up and gained the rebellious trait. I guess because he felt second place as a toddler. His first step in rebelling was growing out his hair and refusing to let me cut it.

Bree was last and even though everyone was tired we still cheered her on as I hoped she outgrew her screaming toddler ways.

She developed the brave trait, and being surrounded by brothers, I guess she needs to be.

After the birthday party I kind of felt sorry for Adam, having to share a room with his little siblings, but he said he didn't mind it, so I tried to let it go.

Bree and Brandon shared a room-therefore they had to share all their toys. Bree designated that her toys would be kept on the dresser and no one else could play with them unless they asked her.

Anyways in my career I was now a well-known investigator so I had to do most of my stakeouts at night so no one would notice me.

Since I had to work at night that left me with more than enough free time during the day to do, well, nothing. Housework, maybe.

But I did love to work, with Ethan working late some nights it left Adam to babysit, and he was quite good at it, he would have all the kids doing their homework and studying.

Bree was a little more calm now as a kid she wanted to play with the guitar so bad but I told her she needed to be a little bit older to play with the guitar.

Bree and Brandon were quite the little jesters too, always setting booby traps like whoopee cushions all around the house waiting for their next victim which is normally their father.

He's a trooper and puts up with it but I can't hep but wonder what effect the pranking will have when their teenagers....

Chapter 1.6 Fresh Starts

The twins may look alike, but they were anything but identical when it came to their attitudes. Brandon was quiet and would play in his room for hours on end, while I tended to his scremaing sister.

When I could peel myself away from Bree, I would find Brandon in his room, with his diaper soaked through yet he never made a peep.

This is why Adam prefered to play with his brother vs. his sister. I in many ways relyed on Adam to take care of his brother since Bree was so much work.

When Ethan would come home from work, I would leave for my job without even saying hello, eager to get out of the house.

With tensions high in our small 2 bedroom home it was our mutual decision to knock down our old house and build a new house with the remainder of our savings from fertility treatment.

Here are a few more pics of the new home.

I was so happy to be in the new house with much more room for the kids to play so we weren't in each other's hair all the time. I gave Ethan a big hug and  told him how happy I was.

The kids were happy too, they were actually all playing together with no screaming!

Putting the kids to bed was easier tonight than it ever was, except for Bree, who was still screming from being torn away from her toy and being put in her crib.

The only sloution to get Bree to be quiet was to put her infront of her xylaphone. She loved music and was good at it for a 3 year old.

I encouraged her all the way, often sitting down and listening to her play for hours.

While I was doing this, Adam often had his nose in a book, reading everything he could get his hands on.

He kept to himslef most of the time, playing with Peaches, his 'Imaginary friend' that only he could see.

I thought nothing of it, it was normal for children to have imaginary friends, but that dosen't change the fact that Peaches had ways of scaring me sometimes.

With time passing it was time for Ethan and I to age into Adults. Ethan developed glasses that his doctor told him he need. I think they make him look 20x hotter ;D

I ugh 'embraced' my aging and pulled my hair up and settled for a more mommy-ish outfit.

Realizing I wasn't getting any younger, I pulled out my phone and dialed the all too fimiliar number.

Yes this is Selena Evans, I said to the secretary. "2 weeks?" I responded. Thank you, yes that'll work. "I can't wait!" I hung up the phone with a huge smile on my face.

Chapter 1.5 Solving Struggles

"Everything is going to be fine, you can stop looking so mad."
"I don't want to be here Ethan."
"Just think of the outcome, OK?"

"Mr. and Mrs. Evans, the doctor will see you now." The receptionist said without even looking away from her computer.

"Let's go." Ethan said rising out of his chair as he moved towards the little room. My legs suddenly became as heavy as cinder blocks, and they refused to move from the waiting room.

When I re-gained control of them I made my way into the room and sat on the bed while Ethan sat in the chair in the other corner of the room.

After a minute of awkward silence, the doctor entered the room. She had a stressed look on her face and needed a good night sleep.
"Hello Dr. Brooks."
"Ya Ya, so what the problem."
"Well," Ethan began. "We're like every other couple that comes in here, we can't get pregnant."

"Ever since our son, Adam was born 2 years ago, we've been trying but, it's just not happening, and we were wondering if you could help us?"

"I might, if you can afford the treatment I would be glad to help you have another child."
"We've been saving we can afford it." I snapped at the money-hungry doctor.

"Then, if your ready I think we can start your treatment today."

"Then they hooked me up to a bunch of annoying monitors and before I knew it I was home. I thanked the sitter and scooped up Adam.

I was never happier to be home than I was right now.

Ethan was back on the computer in no time, saying that he had missed enough of work and he needed to catch up.

After dinner the phone finally rang, it was the doctor telling us that the treatment was a success and we could start trying immediately if we wanted to.

We took her up on that offer, and sure enough it didn't take long before I was pregnant again

I did take it easy on this pregnancy, leaving Ethan with Adam 24-7 he said it didn't bother him though.

Before I knew it, it was Adam's birthday and we decided it would be best for my pregnancy if we just had a family party.

He aged into a handsome little boy and developed the workaholic trait just like his dad.

That night, when I was washing up for bed, I felt a sharp pain that could only mean I was going into labor. Ethan was a lot quicker getting to the hospital this time.

I am so happy to announce that I had twins! A boy who we named Brandon, and a girl who we named Bree.

As far as I can tell they're identical except that Brandon had gold eyes like Ethan and Bree had blue eyes like me.
