Chapter 2.2 A Sister's Plan

Things were defiantly smoother in the Evan's house after the new house was built. Brandon still kept his distance and would often come downstairs to find his family together on the couch watching T.V. together.

"Brandon, come watch the news with us!"

"No thanks Mom, I'm just going to go to bed."

Brandon knew the news mostly lied for viewers, in his mind, it wasn't exactly easy to sit there and watch them lie when he knew what was actually happening in those stories.

"Please, just for a little bit?"

"Alright mom, for 5 minutes."

"Good idea dude."

"Shut up Bree."

Brandon took his seat and slugged into the chair.

As the next news story rolled in, the newscaster was talking about a case that of course, never happened. Brandon knew him, his name was  Reid Phipps. He was a good citizen always loyal and unfortunately died of natural causes. The news on the other hand \was saying he was murdered behind the cinema.

"Poor guy, they don't even know who murdered him."

"OK? You guys seriously believe this!? They don't even have one speck of evidence."

"Shhh...they're telling us about the murder."

"You guys are hopeless."

Brandon retreated to his room where he climbed under the covers and prayed for morning so he could go to work, his little piece of normal.

When morning did come, he rushed out the door to in his mind, the best job in the world, protecting the citizens of Sunset Valley.

When Brandon got home from work, he often ate dinner with his parents (Bree was at work), showered, did his daily police reports and went to bed.

That weekend when everyone was home, Brandon was in his room watching t.v. when what do you know, Bree came into the room Ugh deja vu from the wedding. * Author's note* OK, right when I was typing deja vu, the song 'deja vu' by 3OH!3 came on on my IPOD...weird..O.o.

"God Bree, what do you want now?"

"Ha ha, what? I can't come spend quality time with my brother?"

"No."

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today."

"So...I have this friend..."

"No! I refuse to go on a blind date with one of your friends! Especially if they're half as crazy as you!"

"Aww! C'mon... she's really nice and she's blonde!

"Is that suppose to impress me Bree? Really?"

"Well her name's Mandy and she's really nice and super pretty and she's single and your single and you NEED A GIRLFRIEND!!"

"Ugh, fine I'll go on your stupid blind date!"

"So your saying yes!?!?!?"

"I don't really have a choice do I?"

"NO! YAY! I'm setting you up at the Bistro tonight!"

"Tonight!"

"Ya why not!" I'm going to go call her!"

"You're such a pain!"

"Eeeppp! I know! So tonight at 7! I'll help you pick your suit!"

"I really like this one! It says sophisticated and stylish at the same time!"

"Alright, I can do this."

"That's the spirit! I swear you'll love her! I can see it now. Brandon and Mandy sittin' in a tree K-I-S-S-"

"Bree chill, I haven't even gone on the date yet."

"Fine, I'll go get her! You get freshened up!"

"Alright, what's her name again?"

"Mandy."

Mandy. Has a nice ring to it. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.

The minutes passed like hours as Brandon was waiting for Bree to come back with Mandy, he stood in front of his window watching the driveway like a hawk.

He heard the door open and he wasn't sure who came in the room, heck, he didn't care who came in his room, until he heard his mother's voice break the silence.

"Sweetie, she'll be here soon enough you can stop staring out the window."

"I know mom, just nervous."

Brandon couldn't lie to his mom, he was nervous out of his mind that Mandy wouldn't like him.

"She'll love you babe, I know I do, and if she doesn't well that's her fault."

"Thanks for saying that mom. It does mean a lot even though every parent says it."

"Ha ha well, it's true."

"Oh! I hear a car door! Go get her Brandon!"

"Thanks mom, I'll be sure to tell you all about it!"

"Hey bro, well here she is! Mandy, Brandon, Brandon, Mandy! I'll leave you two to your date."

"Well hi, I guess, I'm Mandy and I'm assuming your Brandon?"

"You would assume right."

"So are you ready for dinner?"

"I am now."

As they left the house, Brandon couldn't help but feel like he was on cloud nine. She was just so pretty, well Bree was finally good for something, suits her right.

They drove to the bistro in silence and sat down at a quiet table in the corner of the bistro.

"So, Bree says that your a police officer?"

"Yep, been on the force for 6 years now."

"Cool."

"Ya, I love it. Bree tells me your her band's stagehand?"

"Yep, I'm her right-hand woman."

"So, when did you move to Sunset Valley?"

"About 3 months ago. My dad's job changed cities. We used to live in Bridgeport, but I'm no city girl. I like Sunset Valley a lot better."

"What does your dad do?"

"Business man."

"Oh cool, my dad is a CEO, for Sunset Valley's main Business Center, maybe they know each other-"

"I don't think so, he works for a separate firm."

Realizing the sudden strain in her voice, Brandon decided not to press the situation any further. Instead they listened to the soft strumming of the guitar next to them.

"If I may be so bold, you look very lovely under the candle light."

She looked down and quietly said thanked him.

They continued talking, until the sun set and the stars started to slowly come out.

"Well, if your new to Sunset Valley, then I should take you to the beach, there's an amazing view of the lighthouse.

"I'd like that a lot, let's go."

"Here we are beautiful."

"You're right, it is rather breathtaking out here."

"I've been saving these for you."

"Oh my god! Brandon, they're beautiful!"

"Just like you."

Brandon felt so sappy for saying these things but, he couldn't help it. Brandon really liked this girl.

"Thank you for this night Brandon."

Mandy pulled Brandon into a tight hug.

"Well, don't thank me, thank Bree. She set us up."

Brandon didn't want to let her go, even though it was getting late. He couldn't help but steal a peck on her lips.

"So, I guess I'll see you later."

"See you later Mandy."

With that she left, and a little while later, Brandon left too.

"So how'd your date go?"

"I'm sure Mandy will tell you all about it."

Brandon was finally happy. He could now see a future for himself, besides becoming an international super spy.
